Boost Sales With Targeted Web Images - Comments Off
Images add pizzazz to your web site. You can make a web site more visually appealing and support your web content by providing a visual representation of your product.
Images also communicate a message. They can trigger feelings and emotions. Carefully selected, quality images that accurately support your sales copy will help to produce a positive response in your web visitors. More importantly, focused, high-quality web images will increase your sales! Quality graphics, like an overall quality web site, will inspire trust in you and your products.
Keep in mind that not just any image will be an improvement. In fact, if your choice of graphic images (photos, clipart, illustrations) is not properly focused and of high quality, then you could actually lose sales. Poor graphics will damage your credibility instead of boosting it. They suggest that you are not professional, your sales message is not to be trusted, and your product’s value will become suspect.
What kind of graphics should you add to your site?
Use unique graphics that represent your products and enhance your sales message. Here are some images that can do that.
* A professional-looking header image at the top of your web pages. This is the first thing your web visitors (and potential customers) will see, and therefore is your first chance to make a good impression. * An image representing your products. This can be an ebook cover, software box cover, or CD cover image. * An attention-grabbing order button to attract people to your order link. Including action verbs in your order buttons, like “Click Here to Order Now!” can increase sales. * Turn navigation links into images and keep them consistent on every page. I also recommend that you provide text links in addition to the image links for search engine optimization. You can put the text links at the bottom of the page. * Include your URL on each Web page to make it easier for people to go back to your Web site when printing or saving your Web pages. You can include your URL and copyright information in an interesting-looking footer image.
Don’t use too many images as this can have a negative affect. Too many images tend to distract the visitor which lessens the impact of your sales message. Use only enough images needed to support the focus of your site. The bottom line is: A few quality, focused images sell!
Windows Hosting versus Linux Hosting - Comments Off
The matter of choosing between the operating system (OS) running the web server hosting your web site as old as the web hosting business.
The OS controls all the functions of the web server hosting your site, so it comes naturally to pay special attention when choosing one over another. But what are really the options you have?
Mainly you can choose between web hosting based on Windows, Linux or Unix operating systems. A brief description and analysis of the different systems will narrow the list of options to only two.
Microsoft’s Windows server operating systems (NT/2000/2003) have a rather friendly and familiar user interface, making IT teams to easier in this aspect. Another plus is given by it’s excellent integration capabilities with other applications developed by Microsoft and let’s face it their range is absolutely impressive. The main key point of Windows based hosting is its support for .ASP (Active Server Pages) or the advanced ASP.NET. This language for web development was created by Microsoft to facilitate the creation of dynamic web pages linked to SQL databases. It also provides capabilities for integration with other systems.
It can be said that Unix is the OS that powered the beginning of the Internet era and due to his qualities is still used today. Linux OS was developed having Unix as starting point and this is how the two share many features. Today the Linux version of the Unix system is more common on web servers and this has to do with the higher licensing costs and with the rather specific hardware requirements for Unix. This is why we will continue with Linux only, but Unix is taken into account as well. Linux hosting has its strong points in fulfilling one’s requirements for a good web server and Web serving, file serving, mailing, and streaming are only a few. It proves itself is a very cost-effective choice from using hardware efficiently, and allowing an increased web sites per server ratio, this ultimately resulting in a decreasing the cost of hosting per account.
So here are our two choices Windows and Linux.
Reliability
In the past Linux OS were seen as more reliable over Windows. However with the release of Windows 2003 server Microsoft has gone a long way and closed the gap in this area.
Linux servers are compatible with certain Microsoft extensions and applications and the same is true for Windows.
Web Programming
Even if trying to host a simple personal web site, your might want add some simple scripts to spice up your pages. The issue gets bigger when you are looking to host an e-commerce site supported by some serious server-side programming. So how are our two contenders doing in this aspect?
Supporting java scripts is not a topic to be argued upon as they are executed on the client side (the user’s web browser) and both Linux and Windows have no problem feeding this content to your visitors.
It is a whole different matter when discussing server side scripting. For web site owners trying to implement forms on their site it is common knowledge that ASP is supported by Windows and PHP is the tool to do just that under Linux. However both developed solutions to support each other’s programming language for web development. This support is not perfect and its limitations recommend Linux for a good PHP support and Windows for ASP, especially when it comes to hosting web sites that require the full use the advantages offered by PHP or ASP.
Linux offers a support for FrontPage extensions. Windows has a weak point in offering only limited CGI/Perl support, so if Perl is the scripting language of your choice, you should opt for Linux.
Databases
Dynamically driven web sites require some sort of databases. Beyond sites employing databases, most frequently you will encounter mySQL or MSAccess. If your web site is relying on mySQL, then you’ll have no problems hosting it on either Windows or Linux. For MSAccess databases, look your only option is Windows.
Price
Linux web hosting is cheaper. The reason must be searched in licensing costs, that are lower that for Windows, and in the ability of Linux web servers to support a higher web sites per server ratio without compromising the quality of service.
Although Windows hosting cost a bit more, you will get something for your money. It’s reduced development time and functionality
As the option of one over another depends basically of your actual needs and of the plans you have made for the future of your web site. For example will it move from a rather static web site to one relying heavily on server side scripting? And if it is so what would be the programming language used: PHP or ASP? Consequently your web site will be set up on a Linux or on a Windows web server.
Almost all serious web-hosting providers will offer you the choice between Linux and Windows.
There is no winner of this contest, at least not yet. In today’s terms, your preference of one system over another should be given only by your requirements and the needs of your visitors.

How To Pick Your Website Colors - Comments Off
Before you can consider the finer points of your design, you need to make the big decisions. Few decisions are more important than the color scheme your website is going to use.
Pay Attention To Contrast
You need to pick colors that provide enough contrast to make your text stand out in order to promote readability. Stay away from using a light colored font on a light color background as it would be very difficult to read. Remember your emphasis is on getting your message read. An unread message is a useless message.
Not Too Many Colors
You should choose 3 or 4 colors for your site, and use only those colors (or shades of those colors). Decide ahead of time which colors you’re going to use, and stick to it.
Complementary Colors
Complementary colors are opposite each other on a color wheel. The 3 most common sets are:
* red and green
* blue and orange
* yellow and purple.
These colors work surprisingly well together.
Complementary colors also are a good way to pick colors that will be easily readable against a certain background: look for the exact opposite color to maximise readability.
Analog Colors
Another approach to try is to pick colors that are similar to your main color, meaning that they’re near to it on the color wheel. Red, for example, goes well with its analog colors, orange and yellow. If overdone, this can make your site look too bright, but in moderation the results can look good. It’s no coincidence that these combinations often occur in nature.
Chromatic Colors
A personal favorite, chromatic colors use different shades and hues of 1 color for your entire design — nothing else except black and white. For example, you might use light blue, bright blue and dark blue together. This creates a sleek and professional look.
Take Colors From Nature
For inspiration for a color scheme, go for a walk outside. Take a look at plants, landscapes, and animals. Nature knows how to use colors — learn from it.
Color Blindness
Try to make sure that your design uses color to make itself aesthetically pleasing, but doesn’t rely on the color scheme for anything essential. Statistics show that perhaps 10% of the web users are at least partially color blind, so you need to consider these people when you design your site. Make sure they can at least read your text.

Mom & Pop Internet Business Thrives After Dot Com Bomb-Part II - Comments Off
This is Part II — See Part I for beginning
Shipping Considerations
The Rowes had to also consider shipping options. “For Celtic
jewelry and Celtic gifts, we had relatively simple options, says
Bill. “Celtic jewelry is small, so we could mail everything, so
we offered first class, priority mail, express mail, and global
priority mail. After some time, the service of express mail
deteriorated. Express mail no longer meant one day. It was
sometimes two or three days. Global priority mail also started
to become unreliable. So, we checked, and FedEx presented us
with the best deal. FedEx, UPS, and DHL all have similar
services for similar prices, but FedEx did not have any problem
with shipping precious metals as the other two did. We know
offer FedEx two day and overnight to US orders and several
international choices to non-US orders. Our FedEx shipping
module sends the order information to the FedEx website which
then returns quotes for the relevant options when shipping
options are required at checkout. Finally, our FedEx orders are
insured and trackable, unlike Global priority mail and more
reliable than Express mail.”
Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policies
“We also had to spend a good deal of time considering our store
terms and conditions and our privacy policies,” says Christi.
“We eventually came up with a good set of terms and privacy
policies using the golden rule as follows: We will treat
you the way we would want to be treated. It has worked
really well for us. We take the customer’s information in trust
and use what we absolutely have to in order to transact the
Celtic jewelry order, but we never share this information with
third parties outside of the transaction, nor do we sell, lease,
or loan any customer information.”
“We made sure that our terms and conditions and privacy policy
was clearly spelled out on our web site,” adds Bill.
Keep the Customer Informed All Along the Way
The Rowes have one more tip up their sleeves. “We believe that
it is critical to keep our customers informed about the progress
of their order,” says Bill. “I have ordered online at places
where my order seems to have gone to a black hole perhaps to
show up unexpectedly weeks from now when I have ceased to
remember it. We do not do that: We immediately send a
confirmation email that is automatically generated, with a
promise of a human generated email to follow.”
“When we are ready to ship, we send the customer an email
telling him or her so. If there is a problem, we email the
customer and explain the situation, the choices, and ask for a
response.”
“We believe that one of the reasons for our success is our quick
shipping and our keeping our customers informed about their
order step by step. Once we have completed the order, we shut up
and to not contact the customer again unless she or he has
signed up for our newsletter.”
Instilling Customer Confidence
The Rowes have been rewarded with a good Celtic jewelry website,
repeat customers, and lots of customer testimonials. “We signed
up with the Public Eye when we started. This independent agency
asks for and tabulates consumer comments about our goods and
services,” says Christi. “Obviously, we want our customers to be
happy, and we want them to say so about us.”
“We also ask each customer what they like and what they would
like to see improved at our shop,” says Bill. We publish these
comments as well as unsolicited emails from customers on our web
site. We reassure customers this way that we are okay people to
do business with. After all, they do not see us either, although
I use a picture of myself on the web site to put a face to our
business.”
Sit Back…And Wait!
With lots of hard work, the Rowe’s business has grown. “We
anticipated that it would take four to five years for the
business to be profitable,” says Bill. “We didn’t factor in the
recession, 9/11, and the dot com bust, but we may begin to turn
a profit in our sixth year. Of course, we spend a lot of our
revenue investing in marketing our business.”
“So many people just think that if they build a web site,
customers will come,” adds Christi. “Wrong! First they must find
you, and that means being well placed in the search
engines.”
“Then, once a surfer has finally arrived at your site, you have
about five seconds to make a good first impression so that a
surfer will take time to look over your wares,” adds Bill. “When
I go to a store, I generally go in to buy something, not to
shop. But on the web, it is so easy to go from place to place
because there is little effort to do so, that we get about one
buyer in twenty visitors.”
Give Customers Complete Product Information
“It is an art to make your pictures and words as compelling as
possible in order to convert visitors to buyers. We give a great
deal of detailed information on each product on its product
page. We have its size in inches and in metric so we may appeal
to a global audience. We tell you who made it, what its made of,
and what comes with it.”
You Don’t Have To Do Everything Yourself
“I find that having this business has really broadened my
skills,” says Bill. “As a small business owner, I have to wear
many hats. But sometimes, it is better to outsource some tasks.
Writing is one to outsource if you are not good at it. Web site
design is another. It is a lot more difficult to address
everything that ought to be addressed and then implement that
design for something as complex as an ecommerce web site.”
From First Order to Repeat Customers
The Rowes sum it up for us: “We have really had a lot of fun and
satisfaction from running our own ecommerce Celtic jewelry web
site,” says Christi. Getting our first order was very exciting,
and, no, we did not open our store one day in July of 1999 and
then see orders begin to trickle in and then start arriving in
droves as some dot com commercials of the bubble times would
have you believe. But, orders have come in, customers have come
back.”
Product Variety & Breadth
“We started with about 150 Celtic jewelry products, and over
time we have added, always selecting the best, until now we have
about 800 products,” adds Bill.
Lifetime Guarantee
“We find it easy to stand behind what we sell and offer a
lifetime guarantee for materials and workmanship for each item
because we only select quality, well made jewelry products to
begin with.”
Free Shipping
“We are then pleased to ship your order to you for free first
class mail if your order is $25 or more, and charge you nominal
(basically at cost) shipping charges for other, faster
options.”
Return Customer Incentive
“Because we like to reward our return customers who are loyal,
we offer them a 10% discount on their second and subsequent
purchases, for any amount, no minimum or no maximum, and with no
time limit.”
The Rowes sum it all up with: “So please be good to your self
and come to our Shop Bag End Celtic Jewelry Gifts to
purchase a piece of the Celtic spirit for you or for a friend or
loved one. These classic pieces make for a treasured gift that
will be remembered for ever and a day,” says Bill.
"We enjoyed the spiritual aspect of Celtic jewelry and call our
wares Tangibles Expressing the Intangible,” adds
Christi.
Shop Bag End Celtic Jewelry Gifts is
online 24 hours a days, 7 days a week, and about 360 days each
year. We do take a few days off on Memorial and Labor Day

Sales-Letter Webpage - Create Using 5 Simple and Easy Steps - Comments Off
As an internet newbie, I have always wondered how to create a Killer-Sales-Letter style web-page for my internet business, until I came across a Simple and Easy 5 Steps process, which I am going to share with you.
Step 1 - HTML editor.
One of the simplest ways to create a webpage is to use a HTML editor.
The HTML editor is basically a software program that makes webpages for you.
HTML editor works like a word processor, instead of creating a word document file, the HTML editor creates webpage files.
If you do not have a HTML editor, I recommend an easy to use HTML editor, Mozilla.
You can go to www.mozilla.org to download the software for free and install it on your computer.
Once you have installed Mozilla browser, you are ready for step 2
Step 2 - Create a Web-page
Open the Mozilla browser.
Go to ‘file’ menu, select ‘new’ and ‘composer page’.
A blank page will open up with a blinking cursor, like in a word processor.
At this point, do not type in any text until you format your webpage.
Step 3 - Create Table in your Webpage.
Now we need to create a table in the center of the page.
To do that, first, click on the ‘align center’ tool bar.
Go to ‘table’ menu and select ‘insert’ and then ‘table’.
A ‘insert table’ dialog box will appear with parameters of row, column, width and borders.
For the purpose of this training, I’m going to ask you to follow my instructions. When you are more proficient in creating tables, you can use your own dimensions.
As we want to have a 1 column table, input the value of 1 for column.
For now, input a value of 1 for row. I will teach you how you can expand the row of the table later.
For the width, input a value of 600 and select ‘pixels’ instead of ‘% of window’
As for the value of border, let it remain as 1 for now.
Once you have input the suggested values, click ‘ok’.
You will see a 1 column by 1 row table aligned to the left of the composer.
To center the table, click on the ‘align center’ on the tool bar.
Now, the table will appear in the center of the page.
To increase the number of rows in the table, position the cursor in the table and hit ‘enter’ until your desired size. Alternatively, the number of rows will automatically increase to accommodate your text as you type.
Step 4 - Formatting your Killer-Sales-Letter webpage.
This segment here will show you how to format the color of the background and table of your webpage.
Setting color of the Webpage Background,
Go to ‘format’ menu and select ‘page color and background’.
At the ‘page color and background’ dialog box, select the radio button ‘use custom colors’ then click on the ‘background’ box.
A palette of colors will appear and you can select the color you want as your background, let’s use ‘blue’.
Then click ‘ok’ and ‘ok’.
The whole page will then become ‘blue’
Setting color of the Table
Go to ‘format’ and select ‘table cell properties’.
At the ‘table properties’ dialog box, select the ‘table’ tab.
At the ‘table’ tab click on ‘background color’, a color palette will appear, select your color, let’s use white, then click ‘ok’ and ‘ok’.
Now you will see a white table with a blue background.
Step 5 - Typing and formatting your Text
Position your cursor in the table.
Go to ‘format’ menu.
You can now select the desired font, size, style and color of the text.
Once you have formatted you text, you can start typing your text into the table.
As with word processor, you can format your text anytime.
Once you have formatted your webpage you can now save it.
Congratulations! You have created your Killer-Sales-Letter Webpage.

Broadband Satellite Internet - Comments Off
Broadband satellite Internet has provided hope for rural subscribers who are outside the coverage areas of most Internet service providers. Most home subscribers opt for cable and DSL Internet connections. But in areas which are not under the range of the high-speed broadband connection, or where dial-up access is extremely slow, satellite broadband Internet is a boon. The technology has been there for a long time, but it has evolved in more recent times.
The connection does not use wire, but requires an intermediary satellite. Requests are logged through a home computer and a special satellite modem to a satellite dish, which is installed on the roof of the subscriber’s office or house. These signals are sent or received from the dish satellite to an orbiting satellite, which in turn sends or transmits information to the dish satellite at the service provider’s office. The connection speed is a little less in comparison to DSL and cable Internet connections. This can be a drawback while using certain applications, such as real-time interactive games.
However, does not affect web surfing and sighting. A lot of these shortcomings can be overcome by using a signal amplifier, to cater to external or climatic disturbance and signal locators, to catch signals faster. Some other problems associated with satellite broadband Internet connections are that the installation charge for the dish satellite and the monthly subscription charges are a bit expensive, in comparison to DSL and cable connections.
The satellite dish being installed outside on the roof is liable to damage due to climatic conditions like rain and high-intensity wind. The expenses required for setting up the right kind of infrastructure for the rural subscribers has been one more reason for the technological lag in this area. Despite all of these shortcomings it is the best option for those who are placed at a geographically disadvantaged condition, and the promise of a better future lies ahead.
Broadband Internet provides detailed information on Broadband Internet, Broadband Internet Access, Broadband Satellite Internet, Broadband Internet Providers and more. Broadband Internet is affiliated with Broadband Speeds.
Simple steps to making more web sales - Comments Off
Not making sales like you think you should? This article looks at addressing buyer behaviour and outlines simple steps to increasing conversion rates.
Today there are a range of e-commerce software packages that make building online stores easy. Generally they are database driven and have shopping cart functionality built in. They are written by programmers and provide the core element of an online store.
But having a website needs to be more than having just an online catalogue.
One of the biggest mistakes that most online retailers make is they do not take into account typical buyer behaviour. The conversion from real world to online provides many benefits to the retailer, but present some real challenges for the customer because their buying decision is made more difficult in an online environment.
What to I mean? Lets use a client’s site that sells sterling silver jewellery as an example.
Their site was: -well structured, -items pages were neatly laid out, -product images were clear, -add to cart button clearly visible -there was a short description of the item. -a page describing their 14-day money back guarantee, -a privacy page saying your details would be kept secure.
But sales were slow.
They tried discounting.
But sales were still slow.
What was missing? What could be done to encourage visitors to purchase?
The answer lies in addressing buyers needs and purchasing behaviour. Lets think about the buying process when we are in a physical store.
Imagine if the sales person just handed you a card with a photograph, price and short description of the item on which to make you buying decision, would you buy? Lets go one step further - that they even let you look at the item through the glass counter top. Would you buy? At this stage we are providing more than the average website, but I bet you still have not said yes to buying.
What are the steps that we follow in our purchase decision process? First we would ask to hold the item. Even without asking the sales person a question we will be making evaluations based on the weight and feel of the item. Does the clasp look strong? If there are any gems, does the setting look well built so the stones won’t work loose and be lost? How does it look against skin (fair, olive dark complexions)?
These are just some of the subconscious questions we ask and answer during our appraisal, as we turn the item, hold it up against our skin or place on a finger.
If the answers are not instantly evident, we ask the sales person, who also provides encouraging comments about the item and your good choice.
So how does this translate to a web site?
Simply by addressing the natural flow of consumer assessment on your web site.
Here are some basic steps you need to take: 1.Enhance your product descriptions; don’t expect the image to sell the item for you. Describe how the item feels, smells, its weight. Are all items highest grade? 2.Make best use of images. If people try it on (jewellery, clothing etc) as part of the normal appraisal process, how can you best meet that need online? Do you need pictures of the necklace being worn on different skin types, or if clothing how does it look on different complexions and hair colours? 3.Tell people how they will feel by owning this item - that they will they look a million dollars in that dress, they will attract admiring glances, that it will enhance off the colour of their eyes - all designed to reassure the customer that they are making the right choice. 4.Make the returns policy statement with each item. Include it in the text perhaps like; ‘we are so confident that you will be delighted this ‘productname’ that if you are not 100% satisfied, return within XX days for a full no questions asked refund”.
If you are unsure about the buyer process for your product, go down to a retailer and go through the motions of buying your product, observe others, listen to what they ask sales staff.
Implement these steps and you will see your sales rates increase.

Porn Stars Launch Live Video Chat Site - Comments Off
(Montreal) March 4, 2005 - Vivid girl Malezia is going live and online at www.LivePornStarOnCam.com starting Sunday, March 6th, when she’ll be joined by Judy Starr for a live site-launch event.
The live video chat site was created by webmaster “Casey” on the 2much.net LiveCamNetwork 1.9 platform, after the two porn stars signed on for regular scheduled appearances. The goal is to make the site an all-pornstar video chat forum.
Also signed up are other adult web starlets such as Patricia Petite, Kimberly Franklin (Deep Throat This) and up-and-coming performers such as Briana Devil.
Casey is also anxious to promote his affiliate program for webmasters. “It’s time that this kind of site prove itself. The money to be made here is just huge.”
2much.net president Mark Prince is glad to see high-profile clients like Malezia. “This will help generate traffic to our other sites, via our MBase shared talent pool, as well as help feature our live video chat solution.”
Sites that 2much builds have full sound in all chat modes, from the free chat to group and private, one-on-one rooms. “Actually, we’ve been underplaying that aspect,” admitted Prince. “What really makes our system different is the MBase, which is basically all our client-sites’ models pooled together and made available on a share basis to all our other clients.”
Theses other sites will then be able to enable Malezia and Starr and advertise them or any of the other porn stars on-line.
As a showcase for the 2much software, LivePornStarOnCam will use optimal technology for video chat. Rather than USB low-range cameras, the site’s porn models will use digital video cams or better, as well as better-than-amateur lighting.
“So many chat hostesses use whatever happens to be on in the room,” said Casey. “If the sun sets, the room darkens, or if the clouds move the image is overexposed.”
Casey, who plans to write tutorials for chat hostesses, is also technical and esthetic consultant for the chat rooms.
“The models, being professional performers, will generally have above average appearance and technique as chatters,” said Casey. “My job will be to make sure they’re lit and framed right.”
LivePornStarOnCam’s webmaster affiliate program is powered by CCBill. “We’re going to generate the traffic and conversions necessary to make it a link no one would do without,” said Casey. “We’re launching big with Vivid girl Malezia and Judy Starr. And we’ve enlisted a few other porn stars we won’t announce for a couple weeks yet who are going to drive traffic through the roof.”
Consult the schedule for Malezia’s Starr turn at http://www.livepornstaroncam.com .

The Marketing Power of Articles - Comments Off
Impressions. Clicks. Visitors. Sales.
Webmasters all over the Internet want to increase and even explode their web site traffic. It’s a never-ending quest.
And while it is sometimes hard to keep up with all the latest marketing techniques, there is one secret to traffic growth which consistently ranks among the hottest techniques.
Content is king. Are you still not sure about that? Consider for a moment:
* Getting a site ranked higher in search engines usually requires good, original content.
* Great content attracts more advertisers.
* Good content will improve earnings from Google AdSense.
* A site will have more incoming links as web sites, newsletters and blogs link to good content.
Good, original articles are in constant demand. And quite simply, that is why writing articles for web sites remains one of the best marketing techniques around. By writing articles which webmasters and newsletter editors are hungry for, you are able to drive traffic to your own web site through an author’s resource box beneath the article.
In fact, writing articles has many benefits:
* As an author, your name will become widely known.
* You will establish yourself as an authority on the topic.
* You will increase traffic to your site when people click on your link in the author’s Resource Box.
* When your article is published on multiple web sites it increases the number of incoming links to your web site and helps you to achieve a higher Page Rank.
* You may be asked to give interviews, which will give you additional exposure.
* If you sell a product or service, you will increase your sales due to having more traffic.
Of course, if you can get paid for your articles and include a byline with a hyperlink that’s great. Another option is to let the articles be published for free, knowing that you are going to get some valuable traffic coming your way.
Here are some sites where you can submit your free articles for so that webmasters and editors will find them:
* ArticleStop.com
* EzineArticles.com
* IdeaMarketers.com
* GoArticles.com * NetterWeb.com
Getting clicks and impressions is always a challenge. By harnessing the marketing power of articles, you can make a very rewarding impression.
STOP Don’t Buy That Web Hosting Reseller Plan! - Comments Off
Before you pay $24.95 a month or more for that reseller web hosting plan, read this article and at least evaluate all of your options. A reseller plan generally offers you more space and bandwidth then a regular shared hosting plan. However one thing to keep in mind that a reseller plan is still a form of a shared hosting plan. It’s not a dedicated server, and there will be other sites on the same IP address and server as yours. So what other alternatives do you have to host multiple sites for one monthly price?
Interesting enough several of the hosting companies that offer these reseller plans are now offering multiple domain name setup on one shared hosting account. What exactly does this mean?
Let’s go through a scenario, you signup for a shared hosting account at Hostgator.com. At the time of writing this article, Hostgator is offering unlimited sites hosted on the 3 larger plans of the four they offer. So once you’re setup you can login to you cpanel, and through their add-on domains/sub domains link you can begin to add two, three, four or more domains to that one account. Is this a possible feature you can take advantage of?
If you’re not running a small hosting company that needs separate admin panel screens for your users to visit, view stats, setup their own email addresses etc. Then this is definitely something you should consider. If you have several medium to small sites you’re running online you might as well save the money a reseller plan will cost you and go for a multiple site shared hosting plan.
Another feature you may want to look for at the hosting company of your choice is what their upgrade options are. If you start with a shared hosting plan, with 3000 MB of space and 8 GB of bandwidth and you begin to outgrow it after 6 months to a year. Will your hosting provider allow you to upgrade to a larger account? Will they help move the sites to the new server? Always think down the road and where your web sites will be in 6 months, 1 year.
