Feed the Children’s Kids Stuff USA - Comments Off

Feed The Children features Kid’s Stuff USA, a nonprofit charity program where you can have the opportunity to offer any of your old belongings to poor children. In the Feed The Children web page, one can look at several ways on how to help children; one way is by offering them basic necessities. At Kid’s Stuff USA page, Feed The Children guides interested individuals on how to create your shoe box gift.

In the page, one can create tiny blessings boxes specifically designed for infants. Through this box, a donor can offer bottles, blankets, pacifiers, sleepers, socks, baby soap, towel, shampoo and other items that infants and toddlers need.

Donors can also go for Kid’s School Days Box specifically designed for pre-school and school-aged children. You can include stuffed animals, pencils, sharpeners, blunt scissors, glue sticks, writing tablets, construction paper, calculators, math compass, soap and washcloth, brush and comb, folders, toothbrush, and toothpaste. Candies or any kind of food are not allowed however.

Lastly, donors can build what Feed the Children labels as a “Kid’s Holiday Box” for kids of all ages. In this box you can include toys or school supplies or anything that does not disrupt their growth or encourage violence.

Omidyar Network Give Lands to India’s Rural Poor - Comments Off

As an affirmation of their commitment to create opportunities for life improvement, Omidyar Network expressed its support to The Rural Development Institute (RDI) by giving an endowment worth $4.3 million. RDI helps the rural poor of Andhra Pradesh in India by securing land rights for them through the assistance of various well-meaning organizations like Omidyar Network, and by collaboration with Andhra Pradesh’s state government.

One of RDI’s main focus is micro-land ownership, which Omidyar Network strongly supports as it can be a means of empowering people, especially women, to do something in the fight against poverty. Omidyar Network also believes in RDI’s mission of providing small land plots to the rural poor because it can give them livelihood opportunities that can help improve their lives.

The Omidyar Network grant gives RDI the chance to further develop their work and collaboration with partners and state government representatives. An example of a collaborative effort is the Indira Kranthi Patham (IKP) Program which awards poor families with land through various RDI-designed activities. At present, the Indian government is slowly embracing RDI’s micro-land ownership program. The institute’s programs encourage the government to come up with feasible projects for the rural poor. This is one of the reasons why Omidyar is truly appreciative of RDI’s efforts.

Omidyar Network also believes that by extending assistance to devoted institutions like RDI, the organization is re-affirming its commitment to help in building better lives for a better world.
